
Earth’s total surface covers an area of 510.072 million square kilometers or 196.94 million square miles, 71% of which is water! That’s why Earth is called the water planet. While our planet is very small compared to giants in our solar system like Jupiter and much larger planets beyond our solar system, it is the only place we know of where humans can live. Pretty much all humans live on the planet’s smaller land surface, but many thousands of other living species also live in the water.
