Earth is called the water planet for good reason… nearly 71% of its surface is all water! It’s 100% what makes life possible. Yet, despite the enormous abundance of water on the planet, a mere 0.03% of its total water is liquid freshwater and available for human use. The rest of Earth’s freshwater is held in its ice cover (only 2.5%,; the remainder of Earth’s is salt or saline water almost entire located in the oceans. Many places on Earth do not have access to freshwater, and some places have an over-abundance.
